My mother died unexpectedly with about two days notice 4 years ago and all the little gaps you eke out here hit pretty deep. My last words to her over the phone were, ‘Jesus woman go to bed, you sound like you’re dying’ after she apologised for probably not being able to babysit the kids that weekend.
